Container Appeal 2008

In 2008 we managed to fill a 20 foot shipping container filled and ship it to Uganda. The container is in Uganda and we have photos!

Thanks especially to Shani and Dave, who collected and loaded for weeks on end... their home was so full of donations for so long. Thanks to Falck Nutec, who had the container on site for a long time, especially to Bill for his work in organising the paperwork etc.

Shoes in the Container

They say that show business makes a lot of people very happy. Well your shoe business made a lot of people very happy as well. The joy of having a real pair of shoes is sometimes difficult to understand when we take things for granted. The children and adults were thrilled. It certainly made a change from the improvised ones in our cover photo.

Thank you all for your sole searching.       (Couldn't resist it - sorry. Ed.)

 Classroom Block

One of our large ongoing projects is raising funds to build a large classroom block/dormitory at Hands of Love Uganda. Before it was built some children were sleeping outdoors and when it rained everyone slept outside because the buildings were unstable mud structures.

Now the roof is on at least another £1,500 is needed for doors, windows, wall plastering, concrete floor and painting.

Toilet Block - 2007

We all take for granted our bathrooms, and are reminded constantly about the need to wash our hands.

A luxury the children did not have until October 2007 when, following an amazing fund raising effort by Hands of Love friends, the new toilet block was completed.

Hands of Love - Reg. Charity No. 1123685

Autumn 2008. Empty and waiting in Stockton-On-Tees. Falck Nutec and the Aberdeen Round Table have purchased this container, so it can remain in Uganda as permanent safe storage.
